Body Stories : Learning to Listen

This living landscape of skin, breath, bone, body is an ecosystem of intelligence.

Every moment of aliveness mapped in cellular memory, shaped in patterns of posture, rhythm, expression, and in nuance beyond comprehension.

We, embodied souls, also known as humans, are organized by the weather we’ve lived through: life circumstance, formative relationships, critical moments of peak experience or unexpected crisis, and beyond.

In the ongoing momentum of perpetual change, the elemental currents of all that surrounds us influences and in-forms our being and becoming.

And so the question is: Who are we being? What are we becoming?

We live disconnected from the earth of our body.
We have forgotten the language of sensation.
We have forsaken a vast wellspring of intuitive healing
and wisdom that is perfectly gift wrapped in our own skin.

We eat plastic food and live removed from wild places.

We live in our head, quick to mentalize reality and motivate expansion
without integrating into the living shape of our body.

We spend our days connected to digital devices, sitting at desks,
following rules, squeezing ourselves into little boxes of expectation.

And in so doing, we have lost the subtleties, the faculties, required for listening.

Listening to the way the body speaks, in impulse, texture, sense, vibration.

A slow, quiet language of sense and sensing. A tingling.
A cumulative tension, density, rigidity. A pressure.
A depth. S p a c i o u s n e s s .

The clarity of an aligned yes.
The firmness of a definitive no.

The unfurling sensual terrain of softness. pleasure. warmth. arousal.

All a felt sense.

The body is a treasure house of messages.

And if we dare turn toward our selves, our very cells-- the basic building blocks of our existence--and follow the pathways in, to the inside of the inside, we might find a new beginning.

Of inhabiting ourselves (our cells).

Of falling in love with who we are and how we are, willing to listen and receive, the raw, real, wild truths and honest stories we hold inside. And let them move us forward into, as yet, unimagined lives.

What if we begin to be led by the wisdom that is already here?
What if we remembered how to come to our senses?
What if we trusted the living landscape of intelligence that we (already and always) are?
